Artist Biography
Martin has been performing around the world since age 15. He expresses his diverse life experience through songwriting and production, creating sound pictures which invite the imagination to wander far and wide. Born in Lima, Peru, raised in Europe and Latin America, then the USA, Martin is a citizen of the world, a polyglot, a wanderer who shares his perspectives through a language that allows him to express what words alone cannot. He graduated magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music on a scholarship, and has continued his career as a touring musician and recording artist ever since, performing with many notable groups and artists, including over 10 years with the group Pink Martini. His work has received several awards and is internationally recognized.
Teaching Philosophy
Martin’s teaching philosophy is rooted in communication. In order to teach, Martin focuses on learning how the student understands. Then a bridge can be built. We learn from each other constantly and it is not simply about imparting information. The most valuable thing Martin can give as a teacher is the inspiration and ability to continue to learn for the long term. To develop a healthy relationship with one’s self embedded in the joy of learning.
