Don’t get mad, get RAD Less

This high-energy assembly uses games, humorous stories, and songs to teach students how to identify emotions and be better communicators. Participants will become better classmates by learning how to *respond* to their emotions, instead of *reacting* to them. “Don’t get mad, get RAD!” not only inspires, but gives kids specific tools to combat bullying.

What's Your Story? Less

Writing and telling a personal story can help us form a deeper understanding of ourselves, of others, and of our community. We can reclaim difficult moments in our lives by reframing them- a story that was previously a wound can become a badge of honor. Students will practice telling true, personal stories to each other 1:1, in small groups, and eventually, to the whole class. We explore details of personal narrative like: - Humor can open up audiences to hearing difficult truths. - By being open & vulnerable, we build empathy & earn respect. - By listening to others without judgment, we build community. There can be a final showcase performance, if desired. This has been very successful in the past- allowing students to share outside their classroom, if they're ready, and providing community-building for the school.

Minimum Number of Sessions: 5

Additional Costs: There are no additional costs associated with this program.

Venue Requirements: Students need to be able to move around and also form a circle. (desks should be moveable if in a classroom) Prefer 5-10 minutes in between sessions. max 4 sessions/day. Whiteboard or smart board or projector is helpful
