Body Percussion Less

Experience the power of BECOMING the musical instrument! The Body Percussion residency explores the use of the body to create musical composition (hands, feet, etc).

Using multiple forms of media, students will learn about the origins of Body Percussion, and see how it has evolved over time...in this historical journey, students will learn about the importance of artistic expression and resourcefulness as tools of survival and resilience in the face of hardship, creating “something from nothing”. Weaving history, social studies and character education into the arts is a key objective of this program!

Students will explore the fundamentals of Body Percussion, and with these basic tools, share their own unique voices by creating rhythms via improvisation.

Students will also experience the power of collaboration, as they work together to build a musical composition as a group. “Unity in Diversity” is a hallmark of this workshop component - diverse rhythms and beats working together in harmony to create one hot song!

Residency may end in performance. Get ready to feel the noise, the funk, the fun!
