CelloBop is a captivating 500-year history of cello music -- its past, present plus a glimpse of it's future. Gideon plays samples of classical, blues, jazz, rock and folk. He explains how a cello is made, how sounds is produced and he frames the mechanics and the magic of making music.

Gideon begins his program with a traditional acoustic cello then he plugs in his electric cello, adds some delays, reverb, and looping technology to build layer upon layer of sound. He creates lush waltzes, funky grooves and atmospheric soundscapes.

CelloBop spans musical genres, defies classification and always a includes a healthy does of spontaneity, improvisation and humor. Best of all, Gideon shows students how simple and intuitive it is to make music -- everyone can do it!
