About the Artist

With over 25 years of experience in theater, dance and opera, and over 13 years working in Portland area schools, I bring a depth of knowledge and variety of skills to the school environment.

Teaching Philosophy

Curriculum integrated theater residencies and productions teach performance skills, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration that inspires and strengthens the classroom experience.

Testimonial

"[This program] brought out a different side to the students, shy kids came to life and outgoing kids found the spotlight. By far, the class said this was their favorite class of the year!" -- 5th Grade Teachers, Hayhurst Elementary

Program Description

This program can be done in 1-3 sessions. Marjorie prefers each session to be approximately 2-3 hours each; teacher workshop rate will be pro-rated.

From choosing a script through closing night, Marjorie will help you with the process including scheduling, rehearsal techniques, parent communication, performance protocols, technical possibilities and trouble shooting, and warm-up games and exercises. Includes sample paperwork for parent letters, schedules, casting, etc.

1st session:
This session can be scheduled before you've selected the script and begun casting. Marjorie will help you create a process and schedule for your production, from script selection through rehearsals. You will talk with her about your priorities for the production and design a check ins and mentoring that support your goals.

2nd session:
Marjorie will attend a rehearsal, assist with any blocking and rehearsal questions, help expand your vision, trouble shoot technical issues

3rd session:
Attend a run through close to opening, help with any problems, with a focus on performance procedures and last minute technical issues.

Sessions 2 and 3 can be broken up into 2 parts, attending rehearsal during the school day with students, and an hour or so after school working with teachers.
