About the Artist

Mo played shows for over 2 decades on 4 continents to the big folks. Now, when he's not in schools rocking out with kids, he's at his weekly shows rocking out with kids. Either way, he's rocking out with kids.

Teaching Philosophy

Mo empowers kids to grab hold of their inner beat and turn it up to 11. He brings unmatched energy to every school, and helps kids develop the tools to channel their excitement for rock into making real songs.

Testimonial

[The big idea was] "...enjoyment of music, writing songs. His joy came through. The kids had a fun experience." -5th Grade Teacher, Portland private school

Program Description

Express yourself! A twenty year veteran of writing songs and performing them around the world, Mo Phillips engages students in the craft of song writing and how to get stories, emotions, and ideas into song form. Using the Garage Band app from our Mobile Creativity Lab, we'll be creating original songs with curriculum connections. This residency harnesses students' basic iPad skills and curiosity to explore where the digital world and the classroom meet.

Please note: This program requires the use of iPads. If the school/organization scheduling this program does not have its own iPads, the timing of this program will be contingent on the availability of iPads from our Mobile Creativity Lab. The teaching artist will be responsible for coordinating the dates of the loan. The school/organization will also be required to sign a rental agreement for the equipment.

This program may be done as a residency or a single session workshop.
