About the Artist

Alex was born in Ghana and came to the US to join his father, Obo Addy. He performs across the US and teaches in Portland. Michael was also born into music and dancing. He taught and performed in Accra, Ghana, before moving to the US to do the same.

Teaching Philosophy

Alex and Michael's goal is to teach the students respect for the culture and each other while sharing specific drumming and musical techniques through the lens of discipline and focus.

Program Description

Students learn to dance a traditional dance from Ghana. They learn specific steps and how to create a dance to perform. This is a high energy class and is accompanied by drumming.
