Program Description
David works to integrate the body, heart, and spirit bringing forward personal transformation through the music and folklore of Haiti. He is committed to sharing Haitian culture in an authentic and accurate manner. His goal is to create artistic connection rooted in the culture and revolution of Haiti.
David's performances incorporate Haitian drumming, singing, and folklore. He has a range of songs he can sing in Haitian Kreyol and drum with the associated drumming rhythm. Handouts in Kreyol and English can be provided and there is the opportunity for audience participation if desired.
As a solo performer, David's music is captivating and powerful, holding the attention of large audiences easily. All music and dance have some description added so students understand the history and cultural context. David encourages questions and audience engagement.
Performances can be customized to the class format and desired level of audience participation. Performances are typically a 30 minute performance and an additional 15-20 minutes for conversation and questions. Performances in smaller spaces, such as classrooms, do not require amplification.
