About the Artist
Mark is always learning new mosaic methods, and has installed one-of-a-kind artwork in schools, libraries and hospitals. He enjoys crafting his talents to fit the needs of individual schools.
Teaching Philosophy
Mosaic combines divergent pieces to make a cohesive vision. Mark's residency combines each student's intrinsic skills with the design and creation of a legacy piece of artwork for the school and the community.
Testimonial
"This wonderful art work...added a touch of happiness to the school and we will remember you forever." --4th grader, Lake Oswego
Program Description
Take a look at nature through the lens of an artist; draw the lines, paint the colors and assemble the shapes in this hands-on multi-media residency. Use principles of line to sketch and shade a flower, learn the warms and contrasting cools to paint a cherry blossom, and build shapes together to make a paper collage or fused glass butterfly. Choose a subject matter that fits with curriculum, and the students make 3 or 4 take-home projects. This residency will focus on using specific elements of art to see and create the beauty of nature.
The artist will encourage students to explore the qualities of each art medium- some will find a whole new form of expression. Each student will create a unique and expressive form of art.
