About the Artist
Mic is a global Hip Hop and spoken word artist. Mic has toured extensively in Africa, Europe and the U.S. and is a Lead Organizer for the Afrikan Hiphop Caravan. His company Global Fam he has helped build two computer centers in Burundi Central Africa.
Teaching Philosophy
Mic encourages students to use art to critically engage their environment, identity, and purpose.
Mic teaches that Hip Hop is a tool for accessing the truth about who we are and can be.

Program Description
Mic Crenshaw performs live poetry and social justice oriented rap music.
Mic can explore the challenges and opportunities of these times with the students as an audience and collaborators. Themes include race, class, systemic oppression, movements for social justice and the role that art and culture can play in transforming society.
