Program Description

Sound Science uses music to examine the intersection of art and science. Gideon Freudmann, a cellist and composer is equally comfortable with the intricate rhythms of classical, funk and electronic music. He plays an electric cello with real-time digital effects to echo, repeat, distort, loop, and layer sounds in exciting and unexpected ways. He breaks down the mathematic elements of rhythm, harmony, sound waves, vibrations, beats, measures and phrases, and explains the science of acoustics and modern music technology. Gideon provides a context in which these elements are the foundation for music -- but human spirit and self-expression are required to make music and create art.

This program is available for two or more performances in a single day.
