About the Artist
3 nationalities (El Salvador, Peru, US) and individual lifetimes of international performance make up Inka Jam. They are dedicated to researching South American folklore, funk and jazz, blending cultures in their original compositions.
Teaching Philosophy
Our multicultural performances model how different worlds can joyfully partner together without losing their identity. We love fusion with an Andean flare! Music and dance are universal languages which motivate awareness, understanding and peace.

Program Description
Jazz Guitarist JB Butler teams up with contemporary dance improviser Luciana Proaño and her sculptural costumes to create a performance on the spot under the guidance of the audience. The performers show us how Improvisation is possible thanks to the knowledge of a shared language- in this case, music and dance. We take ideas from the audience to create small vignettes. We invite children on stage, practice some of our shared language with them and let them have a go at improvising.
Instrumentation: electric guitar and effect pedals.
