About the Artist

Jill is a passionate creative with a focus on movement, dance and cultural exploration. She holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Directing. In her youth, Jill was a member of the American Contemporary Ballet Company where she trained with Elizabeth Abts.

Teaching Philosophy

To create a safe environment for students to recognize and express how their unique being contributes to themselves and their community.

Program Description

Students will learn how to recognize and express one or all 7 key traits of human resilience: Unity, Clarity, Truth, Love, Empowerment, Creativity, Trust. Students are challenged to discover, create and demonstrate their expression of emotions of words through creative movement.

Inspirational stories and poems by or about prominent African American figures, such as Maya Angelo, Nikki Giovanni, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, James Baldwin, Langston Hughes are used to present examples of lives of great resilience.

If a different African American figure is desired, that request can be accommodated.
