Northwest Children's Theater uses the power of theater to ignite children's imaginations and empower them to impact their worlds and navigate their future. For nearly 30 years, they've educated, entertained, and enriched the lives of young audiences!

Program Description

Bring classroom subjects to life through creative drama with Northwest Children's Theater! Using the tools of the actor--mind, voice, body, and imagination--students will be immersed in an exciting new world where kinesthetic learning rules and collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking abounds. From taking on characters to develop reading comprehension and compassion, to creating first-person narratives to develop writing skills, confidence, and empathy, we'll work with you to craft a residency or workshop that meets the unique needs of you and your students.

Previous lessons include: Let's Go For a Drive: Elephant and Piggie (creative drama, PreK, K), Penguins on Parade (penguin life, Gr 1-2), Reaching New Heights (the solar system, Gr 3-5), The Rooms Where It Happens (U.S. Government, Gr 6-8).

How to Schedule Programs

Performance | Residency | Workshop

Delivery Method	Component Name	Cost	Participant Capacity	Description
In-Person	Residency Session	$100.00	35	A residency is a program with 3 or more sessions per classroom. Residency session prices are based on a 50 minute session. Some artists may prefer different session lengths and will pro-rate the cost.
In-Person	Workshop Session	$129.00	35	Workshops can be one or two sessions per class. Each session is 50 minutes long.
	Planning Meeting	$50.00		An in person planning meeting with partnering teachers is required for residencies.
	Additional Planning	$50.00		Additional planning time with teachers or volunteers, etc.
	Prep Hours	$64.00		Cost per hour spent on activities in support of the program (e.g. setting up/cleaning a classroom, research, curriculum development, etc.). Plan on 1 prep hour per classroom.
	Mileage/Travel Costs			Federal rate from the theater round trip (.55 per mile) if the distance from NWCT to the school is greater than 20 miles round trip. This program is available within 30 miles of Portland.
