About the Artist

Kids Junk Orchestra emphasizes musical enrichment by encouraging youth to tap into their imagination and creativity. Through the use of non-conventional items such as buckets and recycled items, youth learn how to create various sounds and rhythms.

Program Description

Rhythm & Motion is a drum class that teaches young people how to play rhythms and music on non conventional items while incorporating movement and exercise, it is creative and imaginative music education.


Rhythm & Motion drum classes light a creative fire in young people and then give them a way to use that spark. Through specialized drumming instruction students will learn basic drumming skills in various styles of music. Students will also practice and get a deeper understanding of group cooperation, team building and critical listening.


On day one the class builds a foundation, learning the rules that will keep drumming safe and the rhythms they can use to start creating together. As the ensemble works together, their own musical style will emerge. The musical selections and flow of the class evolve to match the style of the ensemble. This fun and innovative class is captivating for all ages.
