About the Artist

Mo played shows for over 2 decades on 4 continents to the big folks. Now, when he's not in schools rocking out with kids, he's at his weekly shows rocking out with kids. Either way, he's rocking out with kids.

Teaching Philosophy

Mo empowers kids to grab hold of their inner beat and turn it up to 11. He brings unmatched energy to every school, and helps kids develop the tools to channel their excitement for rock into making real songs.

Testimonial

[The big idea was] "...enjoyment of music, writing songs. His joy came through. The kids had a fun experience." -5th Grade Teacher, Portland private school

Program Description

This genre bouncing, body shakin', good time performance has a bit of everything. After critical acclaim and touring on four continents as a singer/song writer for the big folks, Mo Phillips began making music for the younger set when his own boys came along. Mo is now a music educator in both the Portland Public Schools and at private music schools, as well as one of the top children's performers in the Northwest. In this performance Mo breaks down the elements of a song and builds one from scratch with the help of the audience, performs different styles of songs and approaches to song writing, and answers questions about the process and the profession.
