Availability Notes	They prefer to schedule in school performances on Fridays, but can be flexible with some planning. They are available Tuesday and Thursday evenings for Family Night performances.

About the Artist

Rainbow Dance Company is a diverse ensemble of dancers from backgrounds including Asian-American, Mexican-American, African-American, and Caucasian. Through its diverse composition, we seek to showcase a vibrant cultural mosaic of music and movent.

Program Description

Valerie Bergman, Darryl Thomas and their ensemble of dancers take students on a high-energy adventure in cultural history, tracing the popular African-American dance style hip-hop back to its roots. The program begins with a new dance featuring the latest hip-hop and break-dance steps. Then, using authentic African instruments, audience participation, costumes and vignettes such as "hamboning" and "voguing," they recount the journey of African-Americans from their homes in Africa though slavery to the present. Each presentation is tailored to the participating age groups.

How to Schedule Programs

Performance | Residency | Workshop

In-Person	Single Performance	$1,400.00	500	A single, 50 minute assembly performance.
In-Person	Back to Back Performance	$1,825.00	500	Two performances with a short break in between. Each performance is 50 minutes.
In-Person	Triple Performance	$2,235.00	500	Three 50 minute performances with short breaks in between each.
In-Person	Family Arts Night Performance	$1,400.00	500	A 50 minute performance for students and families, typically in the evening or on weekends.
	Oversize Audience Fee			$1 per student over the Participant Capacity (up to 50 extra students).
In-Person	Post-Performance Workshop	$500.00	30	Must take place after a performance. Schools can schedule up to three workshops in West African dance and drumming or Hip-Hop and break dancing. Additional workshops on subsequent days may be arranged.
	Mileage/Travel Costs			For sites located more than 15 miles from downtown Portland, an additional mileage fee will be calculated using the IRS mileage rate. This program is available within 98 miles of Portland.
