About the Artist

Ali-Olé, a powerful female duo consisting of flamenco dancer Verónica Medina and flamenco guitarist Julia Banzi have toured worldwide as members of the Al Andalus Ensemble and were recipients of the California ArtsBridge Award and Peoples Grammy Award.

Program Description

Travel without leaving home! Where in the world do you want to go? Pick your cultural area! Explore the world's music with attention to specific musical styles and cultural contexts then create and learn to play some simple instruments rooted in that culture but made with upcycled and re-purposed materials. This residency can be taught by one or two teaching artists.

The world is the limit! What cultures do you want to explore and create with your students? i.e. Mexico, Native America, France, South America, Hawaii, Oceania, Indonesia, Africa, India, China, Japan, Middle East, Latin America.

This residency is available in English and Spanish.
