About the Artist
Rhythm, Notes and Words teaches song writing using improvisation. Students title, stylize and sometimes even help perform a fresh set of original songs every show.
Teaching Philosophy
Our goal is to inspire students to write their own music and lyrics, and give them the tools to do so. We emphasize trial and error as well as an "anything goes" attitude toward creativity.
Testimonial
"From the moment the students entered the room, they were engaged." --Teacher, PPS
Program Description
Rhythm, Notes and Words, a pop/rock group that improvises songs based on audience suggestions, produces a fresh set of original songs that students title, stylize and sometimes even help perform. These five multi-instrumentalists play drums, electric bass, electric guitar, keyboard, sax, flute, homemade instruments and more as they introduce students to songwriting techniques, musical vocabulary and the art of spontaneous creativity. But the real fun is in hearing the improvised lyrics that bring these one-of-a-kind songs to life. This program can be adapted to any age group.
